Ready to reclaim your calm?

Emily Neilson, LPC-MHSP

You remember a time when sleepless nights, looping fears and overthinking weren’t your “norm”… But those days feel like a distant memory. Don’t you wish you had the tools to change that?

You’ve come to the right place.

I’m Emily Neilson, and I help anxious adults just like you: ones who have it within them to find their calm, but just need the support to get there.

I help clients feel grounded, secure and confident by equipping them with the tools they need to better understand themselves and their anxiety.

Many of today’s solutions for anxiety are taken from a one-size-fits-all approach. This approach will give you tools to “cover-up” your symptoms but it won’t help you understand why you’re experiencing anxiety in the first place. This approach can lead many to feel only temporary relief or like they’re not making real progress.

I know that your circumstances are unique, so I not only give you tools to manage your anxiety, I also help you explore the reasons for your anxiety - why it exists in the first place. If we can understand it’s purpose, we can then experience real change through meaning-making and self-compassion.

First, we identify your brand of anxiety (where do you feel it? In your mind or in your body?), then we identify triggers (what situations consistently cause you react with anxiety?) With this information we can then move into the process of learning skills not only to manage symptoms but to understand them for long-term relief.

This may involve going back to some of the first times you remembered ever feeling anxious, making sense of them, and offering yourself compassion. Through our work together, you’ll not only learn skills to manage anxiety, but experience lasting change.

I am dedicated to helping people enjoy life again.

My training in anxiety, OCD and trauma means that I have the expertise you need and deserve to help you work through and heal from the above issues. But at then end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who “gets” what it means to be a hardworking, conscientious, adult struggling with anxiety, right?

I get it because I have devoted my career to understanding and working with the struggle that is anxiety. I know that sometimes you’re so exhausted from feeling anxious that you have little to no energy at the end of the day. I also know that even though you’re often exhausted from feeling anxious, you still have trouble falling asleep at night because of racing thoughts.

So when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist. You’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through.
